Changing a GP's Working Commitment Part Way through a Quarter 

The GP's working commitment (either 

F

   Full Time, 

T

   Three Quarter Time, 

H

   Half 

Time or 

J

   Job Share) is set on page 3 of the GD screen. 

However, if a GP changes his/her working commitment part way through a quarter (as is 

usually the case), the system will not automatically cater for this.  There are two 

alternative workaround procedures for ensuring that the payments to the GP are changed 

on the correct date.  These are described below. 

Workaround Procedure 1 

This procedure has the advantage that the GP retains the same local GP code, but has 

the disadvantage that the adjustment to the partnership payment resulting from the 

GP s change of working hours commitment must be calculated manually. 

   1) 

Access page 3 of the GD screen and change the time commitment flag to the 

required new setting. 

   2) 

On page 2 of the GD screen enter some narrative in the Special Notes area at 

the bottom of the screen.  A suggested example might be "GP changed from 

Full time to Half time on 18.05.2000 by ABC" (where ABC is the user s 

initials). 

   3)  Manually calculate the fees due to the partnership, taking into account the 

change of working hours commitment by the GP during the quarter.  This will 

affect the following payments:  

Basic Practice Allowance. 

Seniority 

Assistants Allowance 

Deprivation Payment (the conditional calculation within ED based 

Deprivation) 

Leave Payment (based on Basic Practice Allowance) 

   4) 

Calculate the adjustment that must be applied, bearing in mind that FJ GMPP 

will calculate the payment based on the GP having the new status for the 

whole quarter. 

   5) 

Notify the practice of the amendment they can expect to see on their statement 

at the quarter end payment. 

   6)  Enter the adjustment on the GO screen for the GP, and schedule a run of 

finance job FJ GOLB to be included with the quarter end run of FJ GMPP. 

NOTE 

Ensure that you keep copies of everything on file for audit 

purposes.
