Note that, in every case, neither

 is permitted to appear at the end of the
property value as a type indicator, as would be permitted in Java source code
( 3.10.1).
The second argument serves as a default value. If there is no property of the
specified name, or if the property does not have the correct numeric format, then
the second argument is returned.
