From the Book of Exodus 107
sufferings of the Antichrist's reign and the punishment of the wicked that
follows.
Sacrifice to the L
ORD
 (Ex 8:25 32)
But Moses said, `It would not be right to do so; for we shall sacrifice to
the L
ORD
our God offerings abominable to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice
offerings abominable to the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not stone
us?' (Ex 8:26).
Moses words foreshadow that future time, during the Church's great
suffering, when the sacrifice of the Holy Mass and the Holy Eucharist will
be an abomination in the eyes of many. People will be put to death for going
to Mass. Few Masses will be held, and then only in secret, for fear of being
put to death.
The Plague on the Cattle (Ex 9:1 7)
And on the morrow the L
ORD
did this thing; all the cattle of the
Egyptians died, but of the cattle of the people of Israel not one died. (Ex
9:6).
Again, God gave a punishment to the Egyptians, but spared the Israelites.
In the times described in Revelation, the children of God will be spared
some punishments meant only for evildoers. God distinguishes between
those who do good and those who do evil. `Do not harm the earth or the
sea or the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God upon their
foreheads.' (Rev 7:3). Later in Revelation, we learn that those whom God
has set apart with the seal will be spared certain sufferings (Rev 9:3 4). See
how well the events of Exodus foretell future events for the Church and the
world.
The Plague of Boils (Ex 9:8 12)
So they took ashes from the kiln, and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses
threw them toward heaven, and it became boils breaking out in sores on
man and beast. And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of
the boils, for the boils were upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians.
(Ex 9:10 11).
The plague of boils was also only on the Egyptians, not the Israelites. The
magicians of Egypt could neither duplicate this miraculous affliction, nor
even prevent themselves from suffering it. Thus did God make clear that His
power is over all and that the power of those sorcerers is weak and illusory.
