Floppy Drive Arguments
All of the information in this section can be found in README.fd in
linux/drivers/block. The following information is taken directly from this file.
Several points of interest include:
Using floppy= arguments on the command line as well as in the LILO
config file will result in the two arguments being concatenated.
The floppy= argument can be used with insmod, however the syntax
is slightly different.
For insmod the floppy= is only entered once with the parameters fol
lowing it in quotes as, floppy daring two fdc .
floppy=mask, allowed drive mask and floppy=all drives are obso
lete and should be replaced by: floppy=,,cmos
Specifying a drive is mandatory when using more than 2 floppy drives, and
sets the CMOS type for to , where the CMOS types are:
0 Use the value found in the physical CMOS
1 5 1/4 DD
2 5 1/4 HD
3 3 1/2 DD
4 3 1/2 HD
5 3 1/2 ED
6 3 1/2 ED
16 unknown or not installed
Note:
Type 5 is for use with AMI floppy drives. Under other cir
cumstances this type was intended for use by floppy tapes .
