Understanding the Superannuation Screen 

SD Number 

Not mandatory.  If entered must be of the form YY/999999 where YY is the year of the 

trainee s birth. 

NI Number 

Not mandatory.  If entered must be of the form AA999999A 

NI Contracted out

Optional field.  Indicates whether trainee has contracted out of National Insurance. 

This flag is automatically set to `Y' if the Trainee is currently superannuable; otherwise, 

it is set to `N'.  If the entry in this field is manually edited, it will not be changed. 

Date of Birth 

This field is duplicated from page 1 and you can indicate whether date of birth has been 

verified. 

Add Vol Contrib

. 

Up to 7 retirement contributions may be entered.  The amount is deducted quarterly 

between the dates for up to 10 years.  The percentage will be deducted from all 

superannuable payments made to the trainee, normally starting on his/her birthday and 

ending the day before his/her 60th or 65th birthday. 

Sup Employ Comm

. 

Will default to the Start Date of the training period entered on page 3.  If an existing date 

is removed, the trainee will be defined as non superannuable. 

Sup Employ Ceas

. 

The date superannuable employment ended. Must not be after age 65 unless it cross 

refers to EPA,  Extension of Pensionable Age.
