1.
My RealOne Player cannot open any audio or video streams when I use the ASTRA proxy
client.
You have to adapt the configuration of your RealOne Player as in Appendix 4: of this document.
In order to do that, open your RealOne Player. Select from the menu Tools the item Preferences.
Click on the item Network Transports in the left pane. Enable the option Manually configure
connection settings .
After that click on RTSP Settings Enable the option Attempt to use HTTP for all content and
disable all other options.
Close the dialog for the RTSP Settings and click on PNA Settings In this dialog you apply the
same settings as for RTSP, that is enable the option Attempt to use HTTP for all content and disable
all other options.
2.
How can I check if the ASTRA Broadband service software has been installed successfully?
The installation and test tool of the ASTRA proxy client finishes the installation by performing a multi
level test of your connection. You can also use this tool after the first installation if you encounter
problems. In the installation manual you can find more information on the different outputs of the tool.
The data application of the different DVB receivers normally gives you a visual feed back about the
functioning state of the hardware through a small icon in the system notification area (green: OK, red:
problem).
The client software for ASTRA Broadband service has also an icon that looks like a small satellite dish
in the system notification area. This icon must have always a light green background, whether you
have a dial up connection to the Internet or not.
3.
The statistics window of my DVB data application shows one or two permanent data streams
at a data rate of roughly 10 kBit/s in total, although I'm not online. What is that?
This is the data broadcast of the so called announcement channel. This data traffic doesn't generate
any additional cost and is directed from the satellite to the DVB receivers.
4.
I receive the announcement channel correctly, but my surfing speed is still not faster. Why?
Unfortunately this can have various reasons or it can be due to a combination of several causes, for
instance faulty dial up connection, high error rate of the satellite signal or overload of the accessed
web server. Apart from these, there is a number of problems on the local PC that can cause this
behaviour and that should be excluded upfront.
First make sure that your Internet browser is configured correctly. The forwarding to the proxy server
(127.0.0.1:9202 or 9203) is probably not configured for the correct dial up connection. For instance
Microsoft Internet Explorer can manage different proxy settings for each dial up connection. A very
common error is to set the proxy for the LAN connection (Tools

Internet
Options

Connections

LAN settings ) and then to use a dial up connection to go online. Please
use the installation and test utility for the ASTRA Broadband proxy client to make sure the settings are
done correctly.
In case you don't want to use the configuration tool, please refer to the appendix 1 of this document.
You should now be able to use the full satellite bandwidth. Please verify this through the statistics
window of the data application of your DVB receiver.
