From the Gospel of John 51
After the Resurrection (John 21)
Simon Peter said to them, `I am going fishing.' They said to him, `We
will go with you.' They went out and got into the boat; but that night they
caught nothing. Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the
disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, `Children, have
you any fish?' They answered him, `No.' He said to them, `Cast the net on
the right side of the boat, and you will find some.' So they cast it, and now
they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish. (John 21:3 6).
Seven disciples were together by the sea after the Resurrection. These
seven represent the seven parts of the Church. Currently, the Catholic
Church has two parts, the Latin Rite and the Eastern Rite, and there are
many Protestant Churches and the Churches of the East. Later, when these
other Churches are joined with the Catholic Church in complete unity of
faith and leadership, there shall be seven parts. This is why the book of
Revelation is addressed to the Seven Churches.
Peter decides to go fishing and the others join him. Peter represents the
Pope. The seven disciples fish, which means that the seven parts of the
Church are seeking the conversion of sinners. But they are not successful.
They fish all night and catch nothing. Night represents a time of darkness for
the Church. This passage refers to the time of the Church's suffering, during
the latter part of the Forty Years, after the Church is restructured to have
seven parts.
Day is breaking, those dark days are ending, and Jesus is seen on the
shore. Now the fishing for souls is suddenly very successful.
So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish,
a hundred and fifty three of them; and although there were so many, the net
was not torn. (John 21:11).
They catch 153 large fish. The catching of fish represents the saving of
souls or the conversion of sinners. The size of the fish represents the number
of sinners converted. Large fish means a large number of souls saved. The
number of fish represents the way that the sinners will be saved. They will be
saved through the prayers of the Holy Rosary, which contains 153 Hail
Marys.
Thus, a large number of conversions will be brought about by the praying
of the Rosary. Most amazingly, this will occur because of prayer and
suffering during a dark time of persecution and sin in the world. And all the
while, when the Rosary is being prayed, it will seem futile. They fished all
night and caught nothing. Then, when the dark days end, the results of these
prayers are seen in a huge conversion of many who were thought to be lost.
This occurs at the end of the Forty Years (in late 2039 or early 2040).
