attack New York City with a nuclear weapon. Later, after they lose control 

of Rome, they attack Rome and Vatican City with a nuclear weapon. 

(Formerly I thought that New York would be destroyed on another date.) 

    After the Forty Years, the Church will build an entirely new Vatican City, 

a new center of authority in the Church,  within the city of Rome. The 

Church will also build a center of worship  within the city of Jerusalem. 

These new  centers of authority and worship will continue for many years. 

Yet, about the year A.D. 2430, near the beginning of Antichrist's reign (Dan 

9:26), the center of authority and  the center of worship in the Church will 

again be completely destroyed (in Rome and in Jerusalem). Not one stone 

will be left standing on another (Mt 24:2). 

The Tribulation (Mt 24:3 31) 

      `And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not 

alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise 

against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and 

earthquakes in various places: all this is but the beginning of the 

sufferings.'   (Mt 24:6 8). 

    In this passage, Matthew 24:3 31, Jesus clearly describes a series of events 

which will occur at particular times in a particular order. First, in Matthew 

24:4 8, Jesus explains  the beginning of the sufferings.  There will be false 

Christs, not merely false teachers as might be found in any age. A false 

teacher might try to convince the people that some teaching is true, when it 

is false. But only a false savior would say,   `I am the Christ'   (Mt 24:5). 

Many will be lead astray by such false saviors. 

    There will be  wars and rumors of wars.  But no matter how horrible the 

situation becomes,  the end is not yet.  It is not the end of the world. Some 

people have claimed (and will claim) that the world will end soon, in our 

generation they are wrong. Our time is not the end of the world, although 

we will see many sufferings. 

    Following the wars, there will be famines and earthquakes. This is the first 

period of sufferings, which Jesus sums up by saying  all this is but the 

beginning of the sufferings.  This period of time is our own generation, the 

Forty Years from A.D. 2000 to 2039/2040. 

     Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and put you to death; and 

you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.... And this gospel of the 

kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all 

nations; and then the end will come.  (Mt 24:9.14).
