Provisioning Overview

LocalDirector devices containing virtual servers and real servers.

Catalyst 6000 Series devices with IOS SLB containing virtual servers, 

clients, server farms and real servers.

Catalyst 6000 Series devices with CSM 2.x and 1.x modules with server 

farms, real servers, virtual servers, redirect virtual servers, and clients.

Catalyst 6000 Series devices with multiple CSM 3.x (or later) modules each 

of which can have probes, server farms, real servers, virtual servers, and 

clients.

Device Name Display in Configure Tab

This topic discusses how the Configure tab displays each supported device in the 

configuration tree.

If reverse DNS lookup is enabled on the HSE and the device name is configured 

on the DNS server, the DNS name is displayed in this field. If the DNS name is 

not available, the sysname SNMP variable is displayed instead. If neither the DNS 

name nor the sysname is available, the device IP address is displayed. Therefore, 

the order of preference is:

DNS name 

IP address 

This affects the Views, Reports, User Accounts, and Administration tabs. The 

Configure tab options have some exceptions to this rule. 

For CSS redundant devices, the device specific pair icon appears next to the 

device pair name you entered into the device credentials form. Hosting Solution 

Engine appends the type of device and the pair designation after that; such as 

CSS_bldg_X(css pair).
