Chapter 4 Managing Devices
Device Management
Step 4
To resolve discovered device IP addresses into hostnames, select the Use Reverse
DNS Lookup check box.
Note
If devices do not have DNS entries or the Hosting Solution Engine does
not have a DNS server configured, do not select this check box. If you do,
it will significantly increase discovery time.
Step 5
To enter SNMP setting updates for a device or devices, enter the IP address and
updated information using the appropriate syntax. Place each device on a separate
line. Enter the IP address or range of IP addresses to limit discovery. See
Modifying Multiple Device SNMP Settings, page 4 29
.
Use standard IP addressing format (4 octets separated by periods) in which any
octet can be:
IP address a number between 0 and 255
172.20.4.9
Wild card an asterisk (*) denoting all numbers from 0 255, inclusive
172.*.4.9
Range [begin end], where begin and end are numbers between 0 255 and
begin is less than end
172.[4 55].4.9
Step 6
Click Save.
Step 7
Discover devices. See
Running Device Discovery, page 4 25
.
