Device Management
Setting Up Catalyst 6000 Series Devices
For Catalyst 6000 Series devices, configure the following. If your Catalyst 6000 
device has a Content Switching Module (CSM), see 
Setting Up Content Switching 
Modules (CSM 3.x or Later), page 4 17
 for more configuration tasks. If your 
Catalyst 6000 device has an SSL Services Modules, see 
Setting Up Secure Socket 
Layer (SSL) Services Modules, page 4 18
 for more configuration tasks.
Task
Procedure
1. Upgrade your 
Visit the Software Center at Cisco.com for software downloads.

2. Verify connectivity 
From the Administration tab, select Diagnostics, then Connectivity.Type

The SNMP Server Host must be configured on the device.
5. (Optional) Set the 
On the IOS devices, enter configuration mode and use the following 
system name, contact, 
commands.

To set the system name, use the hostname name command. For 
example, set hostname HSE R1.
To set the system contact, use the snmp contact contact command.
To set the location, use the snmp location location command.
6. (Optional) Configure  Add device names and IP addresses into the DNS server. See your DNS 
DNS server.
