Device Management
Device credentials are required if you plan to use many of the tools on the Hosting 
Solution Engine. 
Adding Seed Devices
You can manually add the following devices using Device Manager:
Adding a CSS, page 4 6
Adding a CSM, page 4 7
Adding a Generic Device, page 4 8
 (includes LocalDirector and PIX Firewall 
devices)
Adding a CSS
Procedure
Step 1
Select Devices >Device Management > Device Manager.
Note
Devices must support IP and SNMP connectivity.
Step 2
Click Add. 
The Add Devices dialog box appears.
Step 3
Select the CSS device type and enter the IP address for each device in the IP 
address field.
The device IP addresses must appear on separate lines. 
Step 4
Click Next. The SNMP Community Strings dialog box appears. 
Step 5
Enter the device community strings and click Next. See

Step 6
The Set Credentials dialog box appears. Enter the device credential information 
and click Next. For details on this dialog box, see 
Entering Device Credentials, 
page 4 3
.
Step 7
The Validate Credentials pane displays. Select the check box if you want HSE to 
validate device credentials. Click Next.
Step 8
The Add Device Summary pane displays. Click Finish.
If an error occurred, reenter the information into the dialog boxes again.
