Stage One: The Base Installation

Once you have chosen a boot media, Stage One of the installation process can

begin. In this Stage of the installation the Base System is installed. This is

the smallest Debian installation possible that provides all the tools needed to

complete the installation of additional packages upon rebooting the system for

Stage Two.

If you boot from the rescue floppy or from the CD ROM, the first screen you

see will look something like the following:

Screen 1: Welcome to Debian 2.2!

Pressing enter will begin the boot process.
